About the Item

Naturalistic eagle etching done after the German engraver Curt Meyer-Eberhardt. Print is framed in a wooden frame with an off-white matte. Artist Biography: Curt Meyer- Eberheardt is an German engraver known for his images of dogs. He was born in Leipzig, German in 1895 and died in Munich in 1977. He studied at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under Theodor Hagen and Lionel Feininger. He turned down a professorship in Weimar and went to Munich in 1918 where he decided to work entirely on animal engravings. His work has been published by the Hanfstaengl Publishing Company in Munich since 1917. His engravings are still published today at the printing shop in Munich – formally Franz Hanfstaengl, Munich . All etchings are still printed on 300lb hand made acid-free paper, printed by hand from the original copper plates, using the same directions as given by the artist himself.
