Charles Loupot
1937 Original poster by Charles Loupot for the SNCF and the trips to Monte-Carlo

1937

About the Item

A very nice poster for the SNCF and the trips to Monte-Carlo made by Charles Loupot in 1937, a French poster and graphic designer. It is one of the first poster of the SNCF. In addition to its many beaches, glamorous stores and car rallies, Monte Carlo is best known for its casinos. Charles Loupot created this clever design in 1937 to reflect the look and feel of the many table games played (and money wagered) in the famous halls of this small country on the French Riviera. Charles Loupot (1892-1962) is considered one of the best poster artists of the Art Deco era, along with A.M. Cassandre, Paul Colin and Jean Carlu. Loupot studied art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and began his career in Switzerland. In the 1920s, as his fame grew, he began to receive better commissions and decided to move to Paris. Loupot opened his studio in Montmartre and designed posters for many brands. He is perhaps best known for his various designs for the aperitif company, St. Raphael Quinquina, with whom he created many images over the years. Art Deco - Railway - Monaco - SNCF - Game
