About the Item

Persona is a limited edition / multiple of 6 copies. Framed. Signed. Annabelle Milon is an emerginf french artist born in France in 1988, lives and works in Brussels. Graduated in 2012 from the National School of Visual Arts in Brussels (la Cambre) in engraving. Annabelle Milon's work explores some of the traditional forms of expression of the image, particularly engraving. She tirelessly seeks a territory of dialogue between the technique used and the subject. This critical exercise leads him to think the image slowly and in his entire process, sometimes reversing the subject and technique. The artist reveals what is supposed to remain hidden. Representation is at the heart of his research. This leads her to explore the mechanisms by which we give meaning to things (language, perception, thought) in the same way that engraving generates images that are copies that have gone through the mechanisms of the press. The visible image conceals what is to be seen by prolonging indefinite and limitless thought, without the temptation to show. Does the form exhaust the meaning of the image or does it create the possibility of revealing it? Annabelle creates images in which the representation and its presentation are related in order to go beyond the limits of the narrative space. The representation is represented in the limit of its representativeness, thus disturbing the perception of the spectator. In 2013, Annabelle Milon received the Déclics Jeunes scholarship from the Fondation de France, which enabled her to set up an engraving workshop in Brussels. In 2014, she won the 23rd prize for engraving and the printed image of the engraving center in La Louvière (Belgium) and in 2016 she won the Louis Schmidt prize awarded by the ULB in Brussels.
