She studied painting at the Beaux-Arts Institute of Cracow, Poland. She then moved to Paris where she was married in 1958. Her printmaking studies were under Johnny Friedlaender at his atelier. She obtained Honorable Mention at the Ljubljana, Yugoslavia Biennale in 1961, and her work was selected to be shown at the Second Biennale of Paris. In 1963 she won first prize as a foreign painter, awarded by the Friends of the National Museum of Modern Art, Paris A striking and evocative composition by Polish artist Barbara Kwasniewska, Belles de Nuit (translated as Ladies of the Night) is a rare 1970 limited edition etching, signed by the artist. This piece showcases Kwasniewska’s signature abstract style, with bold, curvilinear forms and a vibrant interplay of color. The artwork features an elegant balance of organic and geometric shapes, rendered in a sophisticated palette of deep blue, soft beige, rich green, and black. The figure’s sensual contours are stylized yet expressive, embodying a modernist aesthetic reminiscent of Henri Matisse and Jean Arp.
