About the Item

"Hidden Sophia" by Ceravolo Ceravolo has been creating his intriguing portraits for four decades, mixing different images within the same portrait. "Hidden Sophia" features a vintage pinup image of Sophia Loren, that is peering out behind a Black and white portrait of Sophia by Ceravolo. In this work, Ceravolo combines an image of his stylized black and white portrait over the vintage pinup image, he then removes certain key areas of his black and white portrait revealing colorful sections of the vintage Sophia pinup. This creates a contemporary, yet classic look to this one of a kind image. The soft focus background image and soft focus colors in the background are in perfect compliment to the sharp hard edge black and white portrait creating an excitement that is seen in all of Ceravolo's work. This one of a kind image printed by Ceravolo is completely flat but gives the illusion of depth that Ceravolo is known for in his large scale paintings. Ceravolo came to fame when he was commissioned to create 6 large scale portraits for the lobby of the Palladium Theatre in New York City. In addition to those portraits, his paintings are in many corporate and private collections including Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Hugh M. Hefner, Prince Jefri of Brunei, Warner Bros and RCA records to name only a few. This Framed work is titled, "Hidden Sophia", paper size is 44x39" framed size measures 47x42" It is signed by Ceravolo.
