Provenance: private collection - Paris, France. Printed in two colors: blue and black. Poster produced for a special exhibition of Munch's work at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France from March 6 - April 7, 1969. The image featured on this poster is a detail with added blue color of Munch's 1895 lithograph edition "Skrik (The Scream)", (Woll No. 38, page 69).

Biography:
Edvard Munch (12 December 1863 – 23 January 1944) was a Norwegian painter and printmaker whose intensely evocative treatment of psychological themes built upon some of the main tenets of late 19th-century Symbolism and greatly influenced German Expressionism in the early 20th century. One of his most well-known works is The Scream of 1893.
Born in 1863 in Löten, Norway, famed painter Edvard Munch established a free-flowing, psychological-themed style all his own. His painting "The Scream" ("The Cry"; 1893), is one of the most recognizable works in the history of art. His later works proved to be less intense, but his earlier, darker paintings ensured his legacy. A testament to his importance, "The Scream" sold for more than $119 million in 2012—setting a new record.
