About the Item

This screen print, printed on Arches Cover White paper, is hand signed and numbered in graphite. The edition size is 108 plus 18 Artist Proofs. This print comes directly from the publisher, Lincoln Center Editions for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The application of layers of deep indigo and purple create an atmospheric quality that is indicative of Olitski’s abstract paintings. Olitski was a renowned color field painter who was deeply affected by the paintings of the Dutch master, Rembrandt van Rijn as a young adult. He discovered abstract art at the Museum of Non-Objective Painting in the early 1940’s.
