Bijinga is an original artwork realized in 1844 by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865). From the series "Hyakunin isshu esho" (Girl's pictures and 100 poets' card games), 14th sheet. Young girl in winter with a violet-blue kimono, in the inset picture the poet Kawara no Saidaiji. Signed: Kunisada aratame nidai Ichiyosai Toyukuni ga (Kunisada, also calls himself Ichiyosai Toyukuni II). Publisher: Sanoki. Censorship: Fu. Very good impression, rubbed, creased, restored centrefold, soiled. Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III (1786 - 1865) was one of the most famous designers of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints from Japan in the 19th century. Burn Sumita Syogoro, at the age of 15-16 years became a part of the Utagawa Toyokuni's family and in 1844 he took the male of the master Toyokuni.
