He was born in Valencia in 1930 and began his artistic career in the 1950s. Genovés is best known for his iconic figurative compositions featuring crowds of anonymous people. His paintings often depict individuals in monochromatic tones, arranged in densely packed formations or marching in unison. During the 1960s and 1970s, Genovés's work became associated with the protest movements and political activism of the time.
