About the Item
In this archival framed and matted engraving by C. Cousen, figures are cast in an outdoor scene near Lake Como, Italy.
Cousen lived from 1819-1889. He was a line engraver and etcher born in Yorkshire, pupil of W. and E. Finden, and brother of the engraver John Cousen. He engraved after a large number of contemporary landscape paintings but is known primarily for over 50 plates engraved for 'The Art Journal' from 1850 to 1858.
