1987

About the Item

ROADS is an original hand drawn lithograph(not a photo reproduction or digital print) by the artist Frank Licsko printed using traditional hand lithography techniques on archival Arches paper, 100% acid free. ROADS portrays a contemporary landscape with an atmospheric, pale green aqua skyline, delicate brown trees and grasses aligning a long rural highway whose central placement gives the viewer a perception of depth and distant horizon. ROADS exemplifies Licsko's unique mastery and style presenting an almost surreal countryside scene with a farmhouse visible on the right as the view leads us straight on the roadway into the ghost-like rectangular shapes layered over the hazy rural panorama. Print size - 26 x 38.75 in., full bleed image, unframed, hand signed in pencil by Frank Licsko Edition size - 250, plus proofs Year published - 1987 Printer - J K Fine Art Editions Co., NY Frank Licsko born in Hungary, emigrated with his family to Canada during his early childhood. He paints with oil or acrylic on canvas in a variety of beautiful styles, combining the abstract, the surreal, and the figurative. He is best known for his realist landscapes, which he often alters with a surreal touch, bending, twisting, and layering the scene, creating what he calls his “Etherealism” paintings. His work incorporates multiple planes, forms within forms, images floating above and receding into the other, elements of layered imagery, reflections and refractions of light.
