About the Item
This is one of three impressions pulled from the matrix of this monumental monoprint showing the remaining structures of a former bridge at Blackfriars in London. Robinson's primary subject matter includes aging landmark structures, such as bridges and large buildings. Her work depicts the beauty and grace inherent in these buildings and structures, which are often neglected and allowed to deteriorate, or alternatively are overlooked as being part of the more mundane aspects of city architecture.
She works primarily in the monotype and monoprint mediums. The spontaneity of mark making enables her to work unhindered by more complex printmaking methods, and to concentrate on textures and the overlaying of inks to create deep saturated colors and marks
