Joerg Ortner is born in 1940 in Austria. He studied at the Graphische Lerhr- und Versuchs- anstalt school in Vienna and at the Akademie des Bildenden künste in Wien, Vienna I, Schiller- phatz. Based in Paris since 1961, he began working at Atelier Lacourière and Frélaut. 1961-1962, he made two engraving in plaster for the sculptures of Alberto Giacometti.1968-1969, he led the restoration of the entire Turgot Plan of Paris (16 square meter engraving), entrusted by the Chalcography of the Louvre. In 1975 he organized, as part of the Young Contemporary Engraving, an exhibition of Austrian engravers, at the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Paris. Since 1969, he has participated in most international exhibitions and engraving biennales. He lived and worked in the Morbillan. He past away in 2011.
