About

First edition original Japanese Color Woodblock print, printed in 1950. Interior view of visitors paying their respects to the enshrined Zaô Gongen inside the 15th century Kinbusen Temple. Hasui has captured the darkened interior of the temple perfectly, with glimpses of trees blooming in the sun outside visible through the pillars. This print is dedicated to a western woman whose name is written by Hasui himself on the right margin in sumi ink. It also has his personal brush signature near his printed signature. Published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Signed: Hasui and Sealed: Kawase. Title and date (Showa 25) in left margin in Japanese.
