Luca Marziale
Frostbite 02

About the Item

ABOUT THIS PIECE: Blurring the lines between reality and abstraction Luca searches for rich textures, patiently waiting for the subtle moment when the soft lighting or harsh contrast defines the space provides the images with a sense of timeless solitude. Abstraction from time and place depicts images of untouched and solitary beauty, providing a commentary on the tension within our continually threatened natural environment and the endurance of earth’s primitive landscapes. ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Luca Marziale, born in Lugano, Switzerland, graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He is a medium format landscape photographer who captures the relentless shaping of the natural world. Focusing on the building blocks that make up the landscape, he finds overlooked moments, personal spaces that can define a state of natural rapture - as a tribute to a world that too often eludes us. PACKAGING: 30x40" and 40x60" prints are shipped in a special fortified tube to guard against bending or damage. Framed 30x40" prints are shipped via FedEx in a bespoke cardboard box with a fitted interior armature for the frame. We do not frame the extra large, 40x60" print sizes because they are too large to ship without risking damage. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: We ship unframed prints internationally via DHL. The international shipping cost does not include the tax & duties, which will be the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, because of the high shipping cost we do not ship framed prints internationally at this time.

  • LOOK UP Fireweed
    Located in New York, NY
ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Project: "Look Up" In 2019, ArtStar proposed to ET Projects an opportunity to create fine art, limited edition prints which would capture the memory of our events. We are excited by the prospect of printed imagery keeping alive the joy, camaraderie, and hope experienced under our umbrellas. ET Projects, a 501(c)3, was created in 2018 with the vision to bring communities together through the magic of art and nature. Shoreline Project was the first large scale immersive art experience launched in partnership with the Laguna Art Museum, in Laguna Beach, CA. The second venue was to be Vientienne, Laos, along the edge of the Mekong. Postponed by Covid-19, ET Projects reinvented and in 2020 and launched Project: “Look Up” in partnership with Mt. San Antonio Gardens. The images are of bold, resilient plants, each with a unique story of nature overcoming adversity. Spearheaded by Elizabeth Turk, an artist known primarily as a sculptor of marble, she expanded her portfolio to include public art experiences through ET Projects. A native to Southern California, she is a MacArthur Fellow, an Annalee & Barnett Newman Foundation and Joan Mitchell recipient. Her work has been represented by Hirschl and Adler...

A skeletal oak, starved of light by the surrounding fir trees still holds its twisted limbs up towards the light as if frozen in its death throes. "I want to bring a sense of unfamiliarity into the images; to present commonplace nature in a peculiar way. This is, in part, a reaction against our over sanitised and conditioned lives. The night forest is devoid of people. It is an undomesticated wilderness right on our doorstep." - Jasper Goodall...

The project uses the remains of recently felled trees to construct talismanic 'forest figures'. They are left to slowly fall apart where they stand with the photographic record being the only enduring impression. The forest is in constant flux, with the trees coming and going either of their own accord or through forest management. Nature is a dynamic force that one becomes more aware of as time passes and areas begin to look very diffrent over several years... Where once we stood on Scragged Oak Hill...
