Summary/Description: Antique signed etching with remarque by French painter and engraver Eugene-Marie-Louis Chiquet (1863-?), after the 1855 painting by French artist Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier (1815-1891). Meissonier was a painter and sculptor famous for his depictions of Napoleon, his armies and military themes. He also had great success with his paintings depicting scenes of chivalry and masculine camaraderie set against a background of 17th and 18th century life. Meissonier enjoyed great success in his lifetime, receiving accolades for his masterful craftsmanship and execution of fine detail.
