Ian Laurie was born in 1933 and is a self taught artist who made the transition from industry to artistry around 40 years ago when he & his wife opened a gallery specialising in original, hand made prints by artists working in that medium. His own hobby of sketching soon became etching and it wasn't long before he was producing his own limited edition etchings. Gradually his work became known to other galleries and during the 1970's & 80's his primary outlets were Libertys' of London and the Medici Gallery in London, England. He opened a small gallery in the Cornish artistic community of Newlyn, England where he continued to produce scenic and figurative etchings, although in this painterly environment he also worked with brushes to produce his own versions of the Cornish landscape. Lauries work is well collected and can be seen in many leading galleries.

- Le Bois de BoulogneBy K.B. (Kyu-Baik ) HwangLocated in Ljubljana, SIOriginal color aquatint and etching, 1980. Edition of 30 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. Kyu-Baik Hwang is contemporary painter and printmaker, from South Korea. He served in the military during the Korean War, and after the war he began to paint. Latter, he traveled across Europe and America and got inspired by many of their cultures and artists. Displacing ordinary objects from their original environments, typical for his works is often compared to surrealist’s art from the 20th-century. Unlike surrealists, who rejected mind control and try to show the world of the unconscious, Hwang stimulates viewers’ imagination. He presents an extra-ordinary, imaginary world through ordinary spaces and objects, using different methods from printmaking to painting. The Bois de Boulogne...Category

- White Hamburgh Grape: A Framed 19th C. Color Engraving by George BrookshawBy George BrookshawLocated in Alamo, CAThis is a 19th century colored aquatint and stipple engraving finished by hand entitled "White Hamburgh Grape", drawn and engraved by George Brookshaw and published in London in 1812 as plate 60 in his 'Pomona Britannica; or, A Collection of the Most Esteemed Fruits'. It depicts a cluster of pale green grapes still on the vine. The vine and leaves are shown in attractive shades of green and brown. The plant lays on a brown textured background with shadows to impart 3-dimensionality. The scene is reminiscent of an engraving in an 18th century artistically stylized human anatomy atlas. There is a light brown title rectangle in the lower center which is blank, suggesting this may be a more rare preproduction proof. There are wide white margins. This striking engraving is presented in a reddish brown decorative wood frame with a darker brown scroll-work outer trim and a gold-colored inner fillet and a thick light beige mat. The frame measures 26" high, 22" wide and 1.13" deep. It is glazed with UV conservation glass. There is a tiny spot in the lower margin on the left and another in the left margin. The print and frame are otherwise in excellent condition. There is a second Brookshaw engraving that is framed in identical moulding, although a slightly different size and a different color mat. It depicts a Silver Rock Melon. The two prints would make a striking display pairing...Category
