An original French turn of the century stone lithograph poster by Theophile Steinlen, 1899. This is an advertisement for the arts magazine "Cocorico," which was first published in 1898 and featured works by many of the prominent artists of the time, including Alphonse Mucha and Steinlen himself. The magazine was produced until 1902.

Swiss born Steinlen (1859-1923) became one of the foremost poster artists in Paris at the turn of the century, along with his contemporary, Toulouse Lautrec. He is perhaps best known for his iconic "Chat Noir" poster.

As currently custom framed, the piece measures 58" x 43."
