About the Item

"Aesthetic of Fear Fear is like a paper cut on the fingertip, it itches, affects you if you try to ignore it. Hsu draw her research on understanding fears in psychology and how to use psychological analysis to understand the visual effect from painting, films, and archaeology objects. Gills Deleuze's “Francis Bacon: The Logic of Sensation” is her major reference to understand how to visualise abstract emotions and turn the strong emotion into sensational objects. “The Aesthetic of Fears” is a further development of the visual representing of Hsu's fearful objects. The formality of the object is challenged through the diversity of colour and complexity of form. Through the immediate response of virtual modelling tools, she creates three-dimensional objects that reflects her emotions and memories of fears. The objects carry the “haptic” character such as spikes and smooth balls and people can sense this haptic feeling through seeing the object. The process of making challenges the possibility of different printing material, scales and combination of traditional technique. " "Aesthetic of Fears " collection has been published and exhibited international as following 2018 "See Yourself E(x)ist", Pratt Manhattan Gallery, USA 2017 Two years exhibitions with Vicenza’s Jewellery Museum, Italy 2017 Collected in Museum Cuypershuis, Netherlands 2016 Moscow Contemporary Museum, Russia 2015 Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne 2015, France 2014 Montreux Art Gallery, Switzerland 2014 3D PRINT SHOW, Carrousel du Louvre, Paris 2014 Ventura Lambrate, Milan Design Week 2014, Italy 2014 Talents 2014, Munich, Germany 2013 3D PRINT SHOW, London/Paris/ NYC 2013 Beijing International Jewellery Biennale, Beijing, China 2013「Future Jewellery」Goldsmiths Centre, London, UK Publication "Digital Handmade: Craftsmanship in the New Industrial Revolution” , Thames & Hudson "See Yourself X (x-tended) ", Black Dog "PRINTING THINGS Visions and Essentials for 3D Printing" , Gestalten Viewpoint No33 Craft Magazine ELLE Decoration, China Numero, China No35 Damn No44 Current Obsession Paper On line Publications Dezeen Vogue ITALY All works are signed With artist's certificate

  • Sculptur limited Edition "The Cannon Dancer" Robert Combas French Sculptor
    By Robert Combas
    Located in Paris, FR
The art market confirms that Robert Combas is the most successful living French artist with Pierre Soulages. During the last two years, the value of his works has multiplied by 5 , proof with the last Artcurial auction sale from December 4th 2019. This sculpture "The Cannon Dancer" is one of the most interesting of his major works from the 90s where he touched on themes dear to him like: battles, war, religion, love, sex, women, mythology, music, genre scenes... - "Le danseur au canon", The Cannon Dancer Painted polychrome resin sculpture. This is a limited édition signed Combas, dated 95 and numbered 4/8 on the base. - Is it a carnival ? a character, a buffoon representing power by a cannon exhibited as a phallic object that symbolizes power. "The moment when the official hierarchies collapse, where the powerful become ridiculous and the fools the only wise respected. The moment of inversions, negations, derision and extravagance. Abel and Cain, Salome and Saint John the Baptist : whatever the time and the weapons, it is almost always the same story", said Combas. Robert Combas love to Deforms when, allowing itself disproportions, exaggerations and deletions, it gives birth to creatures with noses, lips or feet disproportionately inflated or stretched, even monstrous and comic. In this case, Combas flirts with satire, farce, the grotesque. Make love better than a war ! Robert COMBAS has been pursuing a unique approach since the 1980s. His eccentric and powerful representations of the world make this genius one of the emblematic figures of French contemporary art. The artist's work is now the subject of numerous retrospectives and institutional exhibitions. The enthusiasm of collectors becomes more important with each new public sale and its rating climbs which confirms the sustainable nature of the art of Robert COMBAS. He brought at the dawn of the 80s a new figurative painting. • Sylvia Schwartz, 'Brush Stroke, sculptural element in Red Plane', 2016, Resin
    By Sylvia Schwartz
    Located in Darien, CT
Sylvia Schwartz In her structures, silicone molds are cast from both natural and hand-made forms, including clay coils, volcanic rock patterns, seaweed, and the artist’s own fingerprints. Leaving the human trace evident through the repetition of shapes and textures in both the natural and man-made elements, provides a measure of stability, a reference point. These manmade and natural forms merge, revealing our inexplicable dependence on nature. Through this melding of two entities, new life is breathed into the art object. Paper as a primary medium allows Schwartz to sculpt, draw and paint simultaneously. The flow of the pulp (a natural phenomenon in itself) meshes with the molded forms creating a structure that seems to rest on the edge between painting and sculpture. The duality between light and heavy, interior and exterior, planned and accidental, order and chaos, leading ultimately to a sense of life. Red...
