Norma Marquez Orozco
Norma Marquez Orozco, 'Red Triangles (21 Triangles Series)', 2014, Paper

2014

About the Item

The
 natural
world
 is
her
inspiration,
giving
 special
attention
 to
reflect
movement
 as
a
way
 of
 exploring
 not
 only
 physical
 but
 emotional
 change.
 Orozco's consistent
 interest
 is
 in
 perception,
 temporariness
 and
 light.
 I
 view
 my
 work
 as
 drawings
 with
 a
 quality
 of
 painting
 and
 sculpture.
 In
 her
 work
 she uses
 cutout
 paper,
 or
 light
 material
 shapes
 inside
 boxes
or
envelopes
 of
translucent
paper
assembling
randomly
 and
 without
attachment.
It
 allows
 one
 to
observe
the
 relationship
 between
 the
 artwork
and
the
 environment,
 such
 that
light,
shadow,
time,
 weather,
season,
and
 forms
merge
 and
 interact.
 As
a
result
of
 this
 dynamic
 relationship,
 the
 work
 extends
beyond
 a
personal
process
by
 continuing
 to
make
subtle
 shifts,
sustaining
a
life
 and
 composition
entirely
on
its
own. Norma
 Márquez
 Orozco
has
 exhibited
 in
 solo
 and
 group
 shows
 in
Mexico,
Italy,
 Spain
 and
 The
 United
 States.
 Additionally
 she
 has
 curated
 shows
 throughout
 New
 York
 and
 hosted
 lectures
 and
 artist
 talks
 for
 the
 public.
 In
 2001
 Norma
 founded
 Floor4Art
