About the Item

This artwork is a composition of three stones made by Piero Gilardi in 1969. The Certificate of Authenticity is provided by Archivio Piero Gilardi n. 1969.01 dated 17/12/2017. This seating group is unconventional in both its technical structure (unsupported polyurethane foam) and its Surreal aesthetics ("soft" rocks). The main aim of Piero Gilardi is to decontextualize. He recreates a natural atmosphere in an internal space. He wishes to release the object from its weight, and at the same time he wants the image of the object to continue evocating its natural origin. Avoiding any association with traditional furniture, Gilardi creates an amusing and subversive design style that is as much a work of art as a functional object. The artificial rocks are an oxymoron, a new kind of design that changes the traditional parameters of the visual and tactile perceptions.
