About the Item

Dufo is a handcrafted miniature wall-mounted diorama in which Vera Vizzi transforms an ordinary architectural box into a poetic landscape suspended between dream and reality. Constructed from wood, foam clay, wire, miniature figures and hand-painted details, the work invites viewers into a theatrical microcosm where impossible events unfold with complete naturalness. Against a deep ultramarine background, two floating pink doughnuts hover silently above two isolated figures. Their sugary surfaces and soft pastel colors contrast with the vast emptiness surrounding them, creating an atmosphere that is simultaneously playful, surreal and quietly contemplative. The scene evokes wonder without prescribing a narrative, allowing each viewer to imagine their own encounter with these improbable celestial objects. Like the other works in Vizzi’s acclaimed diorama series, Dufo explores the emotional resonance of scale. Monumental feelings—joy, expectation, curiosity and solitude—are condensed into an intimate architectural space where everyday objects become symbols of possibility. The artist combines the visual language of miniature theatre, contemporary sculpture and surreal storytelling to create immersive works that reward prolonged observation.
