About the Item
Walking Hare (Hase qui marche) is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Cécile Raynal.
75 cm × 37 cm × 20 cm. Limited edition of 8 casts + 4 artist's proofs.
This bronze piece represents a standing female hare, wearing a basque jacket and walking on her back legs. This odd character is reminiscent of the White Rabbit from Lewis Carroll's The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland.
The Walking Hare is part of a narrative bestiary that has taken a growing place in the work of the artist in the recent years. "All sorts of animals and hybrid forms inhabit my work, chimeras, somewhere between animal and human figures." (Mémoires de Braise, by Cécile Raynal, Privat Publishing House, 2018).
