About the Item
Paloma is a bronze patinated sculpture by French contemporary artist Marie Louise Sorbac, dimensions are 26 x 25 x 21 cm (10.2 x 9.8 x 8.3 in). From an edition of 8, with 4 artist’s proofs — only 4 editions remain available. The sculpture is signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This piece is a striking bronze sculpture that captures the essence of a bird, specifically a dove, through a minimalist and polished aesthetic. The piece is elevated on a geometric base that contrasts with the fluidity and organic forms of the bird's body.
In the image, the sculpture features a brightly polished finish in an intense gold tone, reflecting the light and surrounding forms, creating an almost liquid and dynamic surface. The shape is reduced to its minimal expression, emphasizing the soft curves of the body and a subtly marked beak that defines the bird's head. This treatment of form, where roundness and sensuality are present, is characteristic of Sorbac's style, which seeks to reduce the figure to its pure and essential lines, as if "drawing in space."
This artwork is part of the animal bronzes so dear to the sculptor, and it is included in a series celebrating nature and the animal kingdom. The dove, a universal symbol of peace, is presented here with an undeniable, modern, yet timeless sculptural presence.

Marie Louise Sorbac
Marie Louise Sorbac is renowned for her work in animal sculpture. Minimalist and clearcut, her bestiary is nonetheless warm and touching. Each animal has its own name, its own mythology, and reflects a part of the artist’s personality. The bronze, patinated or polished with great skill, also bestows on these animals an elegance accompanying the simplicity of their outlines. The sculptress had the opportunity to see her work on display in prestigious locations like UNESCO and the Argentine embassy. In 2015, she received the François Pompon award at the National Beaux Arts show in Paris. “The lines don’t stop at the material, the lines actually continue, it’s as if they are in space, it’s as if they are dancing in space, it’s as if they are crossing somewhere.”
