The canticle of the stilts (with ibis) is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Marine de Soos, dimensions are 70 × 30 × 25 cm (27.6 × 11.8 × 9.8 in).
The sculpture is signed and numbered, it is part of a limited edition of 8 editions + 4 artist’s proofs, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
A lifelike sculpture of a man sitting on stilts and wearing only a loincloth. He has a lantern in his hand and is holding an ibis. The artwork exudes a gentle and serene aura, lulling the observer into contemplation with his placid countenance and unwavering gaze that suggest he is lost in a profound reverie.
Marine de Soos creates poetic sculptures in bronze, flooded with emotion. She relates true stories and conveys moments of pure joy, rehashed from souvenirs gathered from here and there : the position of a hand, a foot, the tilt of a head… Whatever the starting image an emotion is unequivocally connected : ” I can only work when I am feeling emotional” says the artist who admits not having “a vision of what [she is] going to create.” Her only guide… the emotion and, ultimately, an invitation to take a rare poetic journey which thrusts the viewer into a contemplative state.
