About the Item
This super colorful and vibrant wall sculpture is both a painting and a sculpture in one. The piece floats off the wall and is created using black plexiglass which is carved with an improvised continuous line that is improvised in the moment. Color is then added to the carved line and cleanly sanded off. A UV blocking clear finish is added to help protect the surface and the color from fading. This piece also incorporated gold and copper leaf added to add a change in materials. This piece is influenced by spray paint and street art.

Ben Watkins was born in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1977. He holds a BFA from Murray State University and a MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, both degrees in furniture design. He current lives and works in Lincoln, Rhode Island. He has been exhibited nationally and is in both public and private collections.
