This is one of his most expensive retailing pieces, and, it was one of Hart's personal favorites. Hart created this spectacular sculpture titled, "Memoir", in 1985, and it is an extremely rare piece as it is one of his very first executions mastering his technique with acrylic. This magnificent sculpture is comprised of an external relief emerging from the acrylic background, an incredibly difficult process to perform. This piece is very rare and important as it is one of Hart's earliest attempts in creating a Sculpture in Frosted, Carved "Perspex" Lucite, a unique method, patented by him. Hart was able to Manipulate the Reflective and Absorbent Qualities of the Lucite's surface. Sculptor Frederick Hart was the First Artist doing Figurative Casting that ever accomplished this. As a result, this Acrylic Medium enabled the artist to capture the outer beauty of the physical form, but also reveals glimpses of an inner more contemplative enclave where Dreams and Aspirations Dwell. FREDERICK HART: 1943-1999 - Artist and sculptor and stonecutter in the classical style, Frederick Hart was an apprentice at the National Cathedral in Washington DC and learned there about sculpting and stonecutting. Then Hart's big break came when he won a competition to design the facade of the Cathedral, which incorporated his thirteen year masterpiece of the Creation, a 21 X 15 foot bas relief sxulpture. Frederick Hart also designed "Three Soldiers bronze sculpture," realistic in style, for the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial to contrast with the abstraction of Maya Lin's work. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in South Carolina, Hart was an opponent of most contemporary art, thinking it motivated by political rather than aesthetic reasons. As a proponent of realism, he was made an honorary member of The American Society of Classical Realism Guild of Artists.
