Bonnie Seeman grew up in Miami, Florida with a propensity towards anatomy illustration and the dazzling colors and rich foliage of the Miami landscape. Developing her technique with porcelain and glass, Seeman channeled her inspirations; resulting in vessels that are both beautiful and macabre. Combinations of muscular and skeletal anatomy and plant forms are the makeup of these sculptural utilitarian vessels. Instead of dwelling on dying, Seeman’s palpable forms culminate in an acute awareness and awe toward life, renewal, nature, and vitality. Shortly after completing her master’s degree in Fine Arts, Seeman was recognized by Galeria OMR in Mexico City, a gallery known for its cutting-edge artists. In effect, Seeman’s porcelain was taken out of the craft context and placed in exhibitions such as ARCO in Madrid, FIAC in Paris, and Art Basel. She shows extensively throughout the United States and was recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation 2005 Biennial Competition Award. A continuation of her evocative Venice Biennale's installation, Bertlmann creates this sculpture as a symbol of both attractiveness and strength. A continuation of her installation, 'Discordo Ergo Sum‘ ('I dissent, therefore I am‘); which consisted of 312 glass roses, Bertlmann represented the Austrian Pavilion, as the first female solo artist, at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019, where she focuses on the dichotomy of the human existence. Her provocative pieces challenge the way women are held back by societal conventions. Active since the 1970s Bertlmann, who was born in Vienna in 1943, has worked in a variety of mixed media; including collages, drawings, photographs, photo-films, performances, and sculptural objects. Created by San Jose based glass artist, Treg Silkwood, the "Smokey Grey Nautilus" is an intricate sculpture of a seashell created entirely out of glass. Using layers of grey, ochre and white pigment, Treg masterfully captures the intricate details that are typically found on a nautilus. This breathtaking piece measures 13"h x 11"w x 5"d  and comes with a custom metal stand affixed with a rubber coating to ensure stability of the sculpture. About the Artist: Treg Silkwood is a glass artist whose career spans over three decades. He is recognized as a premier California Marine Artist and one of the foremost artists working in glass. Taking inspiration from walks along the California coast, Treg’s artwork explores his fascination with the many species of shells and natural objects he’s collected from his excursions. In response to these elegant forms, Treg creates blown glass sculptures that not only enrich his appreciation for the intricate complexities of the natural world but also form a personal connection to a place which he calls home. Treg has a BFA in glass from Alfred University and studied abroad at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, where he learned Czech mold-making and coldworking techniques. Post graduation, Treg worked as a glass blower recreating Early American Glassware at Greenfield Village, within The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.
