Picasso Madoura Ceramic Ramie 307 Bouquet A La Pomme

1956

$9,500

About

Ramie 307 – Bouquet A La Pomme 1956 Edition of 400 White earthenware clay with decoration accentuated with oxidized paraffin and yellow, brown and ivory oxides under glaze Inscribed EDITION PICASSO on the underside Stamped MADOURA and EDITION PICASSO on the underside. Glazed ceramic bowl. Madoura Plein Feu pottery stamps on the reverse. Diameter: 9.875 inches. Why should you buy a Picasso Madoura Ceramic from us instead of other sellers? 1. We are a 1stdibs Platinum Seller. We have sold over 150 pieces with all 5-star reviews. We sell more Picassos on 1stdibs than any other dealer. 2. We are located in the USA. When you buy from a foreign seller on 1stdibs, you have to consider the problems of getting the piece through Customs. There are often delays and considerable fees to pay in order to import the item. When purchasing from us, we ship the same day and you receive it via FedEx the next day, no problems or hassles. 3. When you purchase from an auction house, you pay a buyer’s premium of anywhere from 23% to 28% over the “hammer price”. So when you “win” an auction for $20,000, the actual price paid is more like $25,000. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price agreed to is the price paid by the buyer, no hidden fees. 4. When you purchase from an auction house, you pay the packing and shipping fees, which are usually exorbitant. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price includes packing and shipping. 5. When you purchase from an auction house, the sale is final. If you receive the piece and are not 100% satisfied with it, there is nothing you can do about it. You are stuck with it. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the buyer has sixty days to determine if they want to keep it. If not, the buyer returns to piece to us for full refund, and we pay the shipping both ways! 6. Please note also that many Picasso Ceramics are auctioned at foreign auction houses. When purchasing at one of these auctions, not only are the factors listed above magnified, but again one also has to consider the problems of getting the piece through Customs. There are often delays and considerable fees to pay in order to import the item. When purchasing from us, we ship the same day and you receive it via FedEx the next day, no problems or hassles. The prices of Picasso Madoura Ceramics have been on fire lately (no pun intended). The major auction houses – Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips – have now been regularly holding Picasso Madoura Ceramic auctions. Pieces that sold for $4,000 fifteen years ago are going for $16,000 and more now. This particular piece is pristine: there are no nicks, bruises or scratches of any kind. It is really a good value at this price. The Certificate of Authenticity comes with this piece.

About Pablo Picasso (Artist)

One of the most prolific and revolutionary artists the world has ever seen, Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) had a tremendous impact on the development of 20th-century modern art.

Although he is best known for his association with the Cubist movement, which he founded with Georges Braque, Picasso’s influence extends to Surrealism, neoclassicism and expressionism.

“Every act of creation is, first of all, an act of destruction,” the Spanish artist proclaimed. In his Cubist paintings, he emphasizes the two-dimensionality of the canvas, breaking with conventions regarding perspective, foreshortening and proportion. Picasso was inspired by Iberian and African tribal art. One of his most famous pre-Cubist works is Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907), a painting considered immoral and shocking at the time for its depiction of nude women whose faces resemble Iberian tribal masks.

He made many portraits in this style, most often of the women in his life, their expressively colored faces composed of geometric shards of surface planes. In Woman in a Hat (Olga), 1935, he painted his first wife as an assemblage of abstract forms, leaving the viewer to decipher the subject through the contrasting colors and shapes. Picasso was a tireless artist, creating more than 20,000 paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics and sculptures. Tracing his life’s work reveals the progression of modern art, on which he had an unparalleled influence.
