An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee service, an addition to our silver teaware collection This exceptional, antique Edwardian four piece sterling silver tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar basket. Each piece of this fine Chester silver tea set has an oval rounded form, all in the Queen Anne style. The body of each piece is ornamented with panels of fluted decoration, incorporating a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a wolf chained and collared to one side. The upper rim of each piece is ornamented with an applied moulded border. Both the coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hinged hallmarked domed covers surmounted by the original carved painted wood and sterling silver topped pineapple finials. The silver teapot and coffee pot retain the original carved painted wood handles, featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece. The cream jug is fitted with an elongated C shaped silver handle and the sugar basket a swing handle, each ornamented with reed decoration. This is a good late 19th century pewter sauce or gravy boat with good reeded detail made by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, England with a full set of stamped marks to the base for the period. This sauce boat has a lovely rounded body with a single pouring lip, a double "C" cast loop handle and sits on an oval pedestal foot having reeded detail to the base rim. This piece has a lovely mellow patinated colouring only seen on old pewter. The surface of each cover is encircled with a fine band of bright cut engraved stylised scrolling leaf and undulating line decoration incorporating lozenge and floral shaped motifs. The decoration to each dish incorporates a vacant cartouche to either side. The surface of each base and the interior of the covers are plain and unembellished. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver flatware service for twelve persons; an addition to our antique flatware sets. The pieces of this exceptional antique George V sterling silver flatware set for twelve persons have been crafted in a variation of the Empire III pattern. The surface of each handle is embellished with a reed and ribbon border paralleling the rounded handle, incorporating an impressive oak/acorn leaf cluster to the terminal. The terminals are further ornamented with the engraved initial'D'. The reverse of each fork and spoon, in addition to the solid silver fish service, features further impressive leaf ornamentation to the reverse of the bowl/drop. The original table and dessert knives have stainless steel blades and composite handles.
