A bespoke Atelier F\u00e9vrier rug, a Fair Design <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/side-tables\/material\/plaster\/\">plaster side table<\/a>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/apparatus\/\">Apparatus<\/a> incense burner and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/photos\/creator\/waterworks\/\">Waterworks<\/a> Henry fixtures add artisanal notes without disturbing the calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRather than introducing contrast through color or ornament, we looked to subtle shifts in texture, finish and form to give the room depth,\u201d says Nicole Webster, the creative director and a partner at EM. In this top-floor bathroom, a gleaming brass Catchpole &amp; Rye tub makes a star turn against a pale-stone backdrop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pitched, timber-beamed ceiling keeps all that shine from feeling too glitzy, while a compact window lets in a wash of mountain light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the practical details \u2014 like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/style\/art-deco\/\">Art Deco<\/a>\u2013inspired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/building-garden\/bathroom-fixtures\/lalique-x-thg-paris-black-panther-bathroom-faucet-handles-france-2000s\/id-f_51554332\/\">THG Paris<\/a> fittings, an unlaquered-brass towel warmer and a floating stone vanity \u2014 were deliberately considered. The space embodies what Mikic calls a \u201ccozy masculine\u201d aesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/project\/glendower-estate-los-angeles-ca\/420292\/\">1920s Los Angeles house<\/a>, using curved plaster and a consistent color and material palette throughout the interiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the primary bath suite, sand-colored <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/floor-tiles\/\">tiles<\/a> line the tub and continue into the separate walk-in shower, imbuing it with a private-spa aura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe wanted the room feeling calm and connected to the natural light, which filters class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThroughout the house and in the primary bath, rolling lattice panels that are modern takes on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/mashrabiya-screen\/\">traditional mashrabiya screens<\/a> are used to divide the room and to filter the strong sunlight,\u201d Stringer explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Bain Ultra soaking tub rests atop a perimeter drain filled with polished stones, all surrounded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/white-coral\/\">white coral<\/a> flooring, the combination giving the room an elemental character. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/storage-case-pieces\/cabinets\/material\/wenge\/\">Wenge cabinetry<\/a> and a lightly aged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/lighting\/chandeliers-pendant-lights\/material\/brass\/\">brass pendant<\/a> add warmth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/holly-hunt\/furniture\/\">Holly Hunt<\/a> bench and three-tier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/dessin-fournir\/furniture\/\">Dessin Fournir<\/a> side table, meanwhile, demonstrate that even a plumbed nest can display the comfortable sophistication of a high-end living room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, <em>Beautiful Monster<\/em>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/art\/photography\/style\/surrealist\/\">surreal photograph<\/a> by Paco Peregr\u00edn,  \u201canchors the space,\u201d says Stringer.
