He made his mark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/le-corbusier\/\">on the early half of the 20th century<\/a> with innovative work that made use of open floor plans, spare interiors and walls of windows \u2014 now all stylistic signatures of sophisticated urban living. And while Le Corbusier\u2019s best work is spread across the world \u2014 from New York City to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/pierre-jeanneret\/\">Chandigarh, India<\/a> \u2014 a concentration of private homes and public buildings may be found in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>The architect called the French capital home for decades, and his Parisian masterworks are worth an entire day of sightseeing all their own. Villa La Roche (10 Square Du Docteur Blanche) was commissioned by Swiss banker Raoul La Roche in 1923 as a gallery to display his painting collection.<\/p>\n<p>Now open to the public as a museum, stroll through the various levels of the home, including the light-filled, jaw-droppingly beautiful center vestibule, taking in the various Le Corbusier art pieces and furniture, spread throughout. Don\u2019t forget to spend some time admiring the iconic all-white fa\u00e7ade of the home, too.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.3px;\">Next door to Villa La Roche is Villa Jeanneret, originally commissioned by Le Corbusier\u2019s brother Albert Jeanneret and his fianc\u00e9e, and now home to the Le Corbusier Foundation. It houses the library archives of Le Corbusier, including everything from drawings to studies to written works to photographs.
