Here, for instance, he paired a circa 1835 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/window-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">window seat<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/egon-schiele\/art\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Egon Schiele<\/a> prints. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately, during the renovation, she was diagnosed with cancer and never moved in,\u201d Mendelson says. &#8220;While the story is certainly tragic, we completed the project, and it really felt like we created the space she was dreaming of. says Studio 6F principal and founder Gil Melott. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melott purchased the black 1920s French <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/armchairs\/style\/chesterfield\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chesterfield chairs<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/eneby-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eneby Home<\/a> and paired them with a custom mohair sofa. The orange chairs are new and inspired by neoclassical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/klismos-chairs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">klismos<\/a> seats. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/lighting\/sconces-wall-lights\/material\/giltwood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">giltwood<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/lighting\/sconces-wall-lights\/material\/giltwood\/\"> sconces<\/a>, however, are as old as they look, dating to the 19th century. The room &#8220;is on the front corner of the house, but a non-period porch put it in shadow,&#8221; JAM partner Joseph McGuier explains. &#8220;So we removed the porch, and now the quality of light in the room is incredible throughout the year!&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decor lends the light a somewhat somber tone. &#8220;We wanted to create a library that felt a bit like a London gentlemen&#8217;s club, so a dark, moody space and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/sofas\/style\/chesterfield\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chesterfield<\/a> were essential,&#8221; says Nina Garbiras, principal designer of FIG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sofa is custom, but Garbiras surrounded it with vintage finds from dealers in Hudson, New York, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/origin\/chinese\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chinese tables<\/a> sourced from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/arenskjold-antiques-art\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arenskjold<\/a>.
