In answering that question, Kristan Cunningham and Scott Jarrell, the husband-and-wife duo behind Los Angeles\u2013based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/design-firms\/hammer-and-spear\/\">Hammer and Spear<\/a>, ignored the cinematic cues of <em>Jeremiah Johnson <\/em>and ditched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/decorative-objects\/material\/antler\/\">antlers<\/a> and the buffalo check. Instead, in this Jackson, Wyoming, sitting room \u2014 part of an extensive family compound on which they collaborated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/andersson-wise-architects\/\">Andersson Wise Architects<\/a> and OSM Builders  \u2014 they nurtured a vibe they describe as &#8220;humble, approachable, accessible and casual.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ingredients are pedigreed, even if the mood is not. An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/style\/art-deco\/\">Art Deco table<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/morentz\/\">Morentz<\/a>, accompanied by cognac <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/chairs\/material\/leather\/\">leather chairs<\/a> from the same dealer and illumined by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/serge-mouille\/furniture\/\">Serge Mouille<\/a> pendant from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/gueridon\/\">Gueridon<\/a>, makes a fine games table, while a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/tobia-scarpa\/furniture\/seating\/sofas\/\">Tobia Scarpa sofa<\/a> becomes a luxurious window seat. Upping the casual quotient: a carpeted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/ottomans-poufs\/\">ottoman<\/a> and pillows from Pat McGann and a decidedly funky wood
