And the \u201chands&#8221; stool? Buck<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The client wanted a contemporary design that felt glamorous,\u201d Francis Nicdao, a design director at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/design-firms\/pembrooke-ives\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pembrooke &amp; Ives<\/a>, says, describing this Aspen, Colorado, project. \u201cAnd we wanted to pay respect to the architecture by using clean lines and very luxurious materials.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the bathroom, that meant deploying onyx, for drama, and different woods, for warmth. It\u2019s one of two for the master suite, and this one was really meant to be a private retreat for the lady of the house,\u201d says Tom Scheerer, who reimagined the clients&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/project\/residential-east-hampton\/73033\/\"> 18th-century East Hampton, New York, home<\/a> in French country style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the striped cotton wallcovering from Chelsea Editions makes the boldest statement in the space, the lamps are the craftiest design move.
