Make that a thousand miles. &#8220;The table was actually built by my husband, who\u2019s an amateur woodworker,&#8221; says firm coprincipal Joslyn Taylor, explaining that he lugged an outsize slice of black walnut for the table top from Upstate New York, then welded an unobtrusive support for it out of black steel. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t want the base to detract from the natural curves in the slab,&#8221; Taylor adds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To accompany her spouse\u2019s handiwork, she set an inky <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/designs\/panton-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Panton chair<\/a> at each end and hung an <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/isamu-noguchi\/furniture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Isamu Noguchi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/akari\/furniture\/lighting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Akari<\/a> light sculpture above it.
