<\/h5>\nFor this Upper East Side pied-\u00e0-terre, Richard Mishaan<\/a> employed Finn Juhl<\/a> chairs and an Eero Saarinen<\/a> tulip table to perfectly capture his client’s requested aesthetic: “Mad Men<\/em> meets La Dolce Vita<\/em> meets the Mercer Hotel.”<\/p>\n In the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, the architectural details \u2014 wood carvings and plasterwork \u2014 of this prewar Victorian townhouse are nicely offset with soft, delicate decor, including a faded persian rug<\/a> and a pink velvet sofa<\/a>.<\/p>\n Situated directly across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1020 Fifth Avenue has an enviable location. Fittingly, architects Warren & Wetmore designed the building to have \u201crooms of noble proportions,\u201d including this 20-foot by 40-foot salon. The space features Louis XV-style paneling and 18-foot ceilings mixed with decorative urns<\/a> and antique bookcases<\/a>.<\/p>\n The floating glass shelves<\/a> and Tord Boontje chandelier<\/a> that hang above a pair of Eames Molded Plywood Metal Base dining chair<\/span>s<\/a> offer a study of modern and historic juxtaposition in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. <\/span><\/p>\n In this cool, glass-curtained West Village building by famed architect Richard Meier<\/a>, Shelton, Mindel and Associates brings warmth to the space through the addition of organic Poul Kjaerholm<\/a> rattan chairs and a plush Atollo sofa by Paola Lenti<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the Flatiron district of New York City, interior designer Milly de Cabrol<\/a> sourced a pair of T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings<\/a> floor lamps<\/a> and vintage Edward Wormley<\/a> barrel-back chairs and a tufted sofa for this light-filled loft.<\/p>\n Located just around the corner from Carnegie Hall, this apartment in the historic Osbourne Apartments building was once home to composer Leonard Bernstein. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, the Osbourne has an equally opulent lobby featuring American Renaissance sculptures by Augustus St. Gaudens<\/a>, the great sculptor of the American Renaissance, murals by John La Farge, and lamps by Tiffany Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n This Upper East Side penthouse, cheerfully described as \u201cLouis XIV meets Fred and Ginger\u201d by its late owner Joan Rivers is a wonderful example of Gilded Age<\/a> architecture.<\/p>\n For a townhouse in New York\u2019s West Village, architects Steven Harris and interior designer Lucien Rees Roberts<\/a> emphasized rich color, which the designers say \u201cbrings a vital warmth to the interiors.\u201d The standout chairs are by Jean Prouv\u00e9<\/a>.<\/p>\n In Noho, architecture and design firm Axis Mundi<\/a> used raw concrete and gray-stained floorboards to create a subtle canvas for the home’s incredible architectural details and sleek midcentury modern furniture pieces.<\/p>\n Interior designer Howard Slatkin’s<\/a> 6,000 square-foot pre-war co-op is a study in exquisitely wrought opulence. Slatkin referenced the imperial palaces of Tsarist Russia when conceptualizing the apartment’s interiors.<\/p>\n Decorator Amy Lau<\/a> used oversize, theatrical pieces by Vladimir Kagan<\/a> and Lindsey Adelman to complement the 19-foot ceilinged and glass-walled living room of this downtown Manhattan triplex.<\/p>\n Architect and designer Andre Mellone<\/a> used an Edward Wormley<\/a> for Dunbar sectional and vintage Knoll<\/a> furniture for this gallery and residence on New York\u2019s Upper East Side.<\/span><\/p>\n In the West Village, Haven’s Kitchen<\/a> founder Ali Cayne used a restrained palette of black, white, bronze and marigold to give her antique pieces an of-the-moment feel.<\/p>\n For a New York home, interior designer Miles Redd demonstrated his signature talent for working with big, bold hues.
