In the photo above, the table is next to President Kennedy&#8217;s rocking chair.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s my own little piece of Camelot,\u201d says St. Louis interior designer Jimmy Jamieson. He\u2019s referring to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/card-tables-tea-tables\/president-john-f-first-lady-jacqueline-kennedys-english-victorian-tea-table\/id-f_21061692\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English Victorian tea table<\/a> that belonged to former First Lady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/jackie-kennedy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis<\/a> and was sold at Sotheby\u2019s in New York after her death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That April 1996 auction brought in $34.5 million, seven times what Sotheby&#8217;s estimated. Of the hundreds of items on the block, only a few had been in the White House when the Kennedys lived there. Later, the 19-inch-high table followed his widow to her New York apartment, where it remained until her death, in 1994. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After buying it at the Sotheby\u2019s auction, Jamieson took the table back to his St. Louis office. And for 26 years, he\u2019s used it. \u201cI\u2019m sitting in front of it now,\u201d he says when reached by phone. Does he worry about damaging it? \u201cI own it. A black lacquer and papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 tray rests on a japanned and gilded stand with bracket-form legs. Jamieson set the price at $775,000 after consulting several experts. Since the sale is not an auction, he could be leaving money on the table.
