Now in its fourth year, the marketplace, which will be shoppable through February 2023, showcases 30 participating designers from across the U.S. All bring an array of cultural influences to their work, not to mention exceptional training at university and at the bench. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marketplace is an important arm of <a href=\"https:\/\/nycjewelryweek.com\/here-we-are\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NYCJW\u2019s Here We Are initiative<\/a>, which offers professional development, mentorship and year-round programming to a diverse group of U.S. jewelers. The goal is to introduce their work to a larger audience while addressing the endemic inequality and lack of representation in the jewelry industry at large. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It \u201cremains a platform for discovery,\u201d says Elliot Carlyle, NYCJW\u2019s director of cultural diversity and inclusion. \u201cSo many of our designers have gone on to be part of wonderful, forward-moving initiatives in the industry. We are proud to see their growth in business and as people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s cohort presents a unique opportunity for collectors to seek out what\u2019s new, now and next when it comes to the jewelry industry\u2019s unsung but steadily emerging talents.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Here We Are marketplace is special because of the stories, the equity, the inclusivity and the values that are tied to making a purchase with this initiative,\u201d Carlyle says. \u201cThis collaboration wouldn\u2019t exist if there wasn\u2019t an opportunity to create change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below, get to know the work of 10 standout designers from the marketplace. Today, her fine-jewelry line emphasizes hard-to-find colored stones and colored diamonds that are artisanal and small-scale mined (by individuals or groups with minimal or no mechanization). Clean lines, geometry and spirituality characterize the pieces in her line, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/chee-lee-new-york\/\">Chee Lee New York<\/a>, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/jewelry\/rings\/band-rings\/22-karat-gold-vermeil-crescent-crown-band-chee-lee-new-york\/id-j_16272132\/\">Crescent Crown band<\/a>, which fuses a row of crescent-shaped talismans in a regal ring meant to attract good luck and prosperity. I leave it up to each client to decide whether they want to use it as an \u2018urn pendant\u2019 or not. The design feels weighty and modern.
