According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/blogs\/the-study\/interior-design-trends-2024\/\">1stDibs\u2019 2024 Designer Trends Survey<\/a>, 15 percent of interior designers polled said sky or robin\u2019s-egg blue would be on trend this year, while cobalt was tapped by 15 percent and navy by 14 percent, making blue a go-to hue for interiors that are colorfully chic but not over the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focal point of Fulk\u2019s design, intended to look like the check-in area at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/style\/victorian\/\">Victorian<\/a> resort, is a custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/sofas\/?color=blue\">blue sofa<\/a> that he says amplifies the feeling of comfort he was aiming for. \u201cIt\u2019s reminiscent of a 19th-century <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/sofas\/origin\/english\/\">English sofa<\/a>, yet it\u2019s a bit more contemporary with the square arms and the contrasting welt we added,\u201d he says. \u201cIt gives it a little bit more dandy flare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulk accompanied this with two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/armchairs\/material\/leather\/\">leather armchairs<\/a> \u201cthat look like they could talk\u201d and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/coffee-tables-cocktail-tables\/material\/brass\/\">brass coffee table<\/a> that reminded him of an old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/more-furniture-collectibles\/home-accents\/trunks-luggage\/?search=trunks%20and%20luggage\">trunk<\/a>. The designer\u2019s take on a scholar\u2019s light can be seen above, complete with blue fabric shades. And, yes, to the right of the sofa that&#8217;s a mid-century <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/piero-fornasetti\/furniture\/lighting\/table-lamps\/\">Fornasetti lamp<\/a>, which he selected for just a smidge of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/style\/modern\/\">modernity<\/a>. A custom sectional from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/thayer-coggin\/\">Thayer Coggin<\/a> in a textured gray fabric and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/theodore-alexander\/\">Theodore Alexander<\/a> chairs in blue velvet offer perfect perches for unwinding with a drink. Across from it sit leather <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/bergere-chairs\/style\/louis-xvi\/\">Louis XVI berg\u00e8re chairs<\/a> that touch on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/origin\/french\/\">French<\/a> aesthetic, while a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/maison-jansen\/\">Maison Jansen<\/a> hexagonal cloven-hoof brass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/coffee-tables-cocktail-tables\/\">coffee table<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/end-tables\/\">end tables<\/a> offer a dash of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/style\/hollywood-regency\/\">Hollywood Regency<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a sprinkling of sophisticated whimsy, Vaile added a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/style\/qing\/\">Qing dynasty<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/famille-jaune\/\">famille jaune<\/a> garden stool. For a bit of mystery, she layered a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/serpent-mirror\/\">serpent mirror<\/a> on top of the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/mirrors\/wall-mirrors\/\">wall mirror<\/a>, a perfect complement to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/visual-comfort\/\">Visual Comfort<\/a> chandelier made of gilded iron and antiqued mirrored spheres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the window, a vintage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/chess-sets\/\">chess set<\/a> sits atop a custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/game-tables\/\">game table<\/a> adorned with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/blogs\/the-study\/greek-key\/\">Greek key motif<\/a>, which is paired with the client\u2019s own chairs upholstered in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/schumacher\/\">Schumacher<\/a> chevron velvet. Nearby is a cheetah-print <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/slipper-chairs\/\">slipper chair<\/a> just waiting for someone to sit down with a nightcap. Picking up on the white frames of the bedside tables, she completed the look with plaster lamps by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/danny-kaplan-studio\/\">Danny Kaplan<\/a>. He started by having the walls hand-painted in a faux-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/material\/malachite\/\">malachite<\/a> finish, using what he calls a \u201cpowerful, deep and moody blue\u201d rather than a traditional green. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against that backdrop, Horner showcases his ever-evolving collection of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/male-nudes\/\">male nudes<\/a>. A custom dark-walnut bed takes center stage between a vintage blonde-wood nightstand and a Horner-designed repurposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/console-tables\/\">console<\/a>, each topped with a geode lamp.
