Willis<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The serene primary bedroom of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/project\/hamptons-style-washington-dc\/195452\/\">Hamptons beach house<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/design-firms\/solis-betancourt-sherrill\/\">Sol\u00eds Betancourt &amp; Sherrill<\/a> may look like it has always had a window seat, but the firm\u2019s principals, Jose Sol\u00eds<strong> <\/strong>Betancourt and Paul Sherrill, introduced it when they renovated the Watermill, New York, home. Sol\u00eds Betancourt notes that they needed to accommodate HVAC ducting and add storage to the room. Those structural modifications allowed them to create the inviting nook. In keeping with the residence\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/french-country\/\">French country<\/a> vibe, the designers installed two pairs of antique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/building-garden\/windows\/\">window frames<\/a> that afford access to the storage closets. The circa 1980 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/desks-writing-tables\/material\/walnut\/\">walnut desk table<\/a> and the client\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/captain-chairs\/\">captain\u2019s chair<\/a> also harmonize with the wood-paneled walls. He then turned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/origin\/french\/\">France<\/a> for the furnishings \u2014 literally. A shopping trip there with the client yielded some stunning vintage pieces, including the delicate gold-toned tasseled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/stools\/\">stool<\/a> and the dainty nailhead-trimmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/seating\/office-chairs-desk-chairs\/\">desk chair<\/a>. Devin Hines, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/hines-collective\/\">founder<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/design-firms\/devin-hines\/\">Hines Collective<\/a>, and his team furnished the minimalist space with vintage pieces that he found on 1stDibs, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/hans-wegner\/\">Hans Wegner<\/a> daybed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/mid-century-mobler\/\">Mid Century Mobler<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/warren-platner\/\">Warren Platner<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/knoll\/\">Knoll<\/a> stone-topped table from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/tom-gibbs-studio\/\">Tom Gibbs Studio<\/a>. A black-lacquered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/tables\/desks-writing-tables\/material\/oak\/\">oak desk<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/oly-studio\/\">Oly Studio<\/a> chair upholstered in fabric by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/kravet-inc\/\">Kravet<\/a> make up the work area, with a brass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/martini-side-table\/\">martini table<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/dealers\/revival-home\/\">Revival Home<\/a> by the window seat giving the client a place to unwind at the end of the day.
