The MP-81 sofa<\/a> was designed by Brazilian modernist Percival Lafer.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

Looking at Michael Shannon\u2019s home, recently published by Architectural Digest<\/a><\/em>, it\u2019s clear the actor has a thing for patina. Though newly updated, the former church he lives in is filled with beautifully aged pieces. There\u2019s a collection of antique rugs<\/a> from his grandmother. There\u2019s a vintage window panel from India that his designer, Colleen Newell, of The INbtwn Studios, had built into the wall. And then, there\u2019s the cornerstone of his living room: an aged MP-81 sofa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is my beautiful sofa. It\u2019s leather, it\u2019s vintage, it\u2019s had some use over the years, but I think that\u2019s what gives it a lot of the character,\u201d Shannon told AD<\/em> during a tour of his space. \u201cIt\u2019s super comfortable. It\u2019s got a little bit of bucket-seat action, but you can also lay down on it.\u201d Designed by Percival Lafer<\/a> in 1972, the sofa, with its organic materials and graceful curves, is a brilliant example of Brazilian modernism<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
