The MTV Video Music Awards may be all about the best of what\u2019s new in pop music, but several stars chose to walk the red carpet in vintage fashion. Ice Spice, Latto and Tyla all chose attire from the \u201990s and early aughts for Sunday’s ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ice Spice wore a butter-yellow corset paired with a blue patchwork maxiskirt \u2014 Look 50 from Ralph Lauren\u2019s<\/a> Spring 2003 ready-to-wear collection, per Marie Claire<\/em><\/a>. On the runway, the ensemble was paired with a feminine choker that doubled down on the Victorian vibe of the corset. Ice Spice eschewed jewelry, accessorizing instead with a coral-pink messy bun with strands spilling down on either side of her face. A perfect match for an outfit literally pulled from the early aughts, the casual hairstyle leaned into the hue-happy quirkiness of Y2K fashion<\/a> that is especially beloved nowadays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latto opted for a metallic-gold Versace<\/a> design that Linda Evangelista modeled in the designer\u2019s Fall 1994 show, Marie Claire<\/em> reports. Tyla also sported \u201990s glamour, according to Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em><\/a>, opting for a top from the Chanel<\/a> Spring\/Summer 1993 collection. The singer put a contemporary twist on the piece by wearing it as a very short dress, rather than paired with pants, as it appeared on its debut, and leaning into the visible underwear trend<\/a> of the past several months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The VMAs are known for attendees’ rocking risk-taking looks, so even when stars choose vintage, their styles are edgy and fresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
