href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/project\/sleepy-hollow-ny--sleepy-hollow-ny\/368532\/\">exuberant retreat<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the primary bedroom, a pear-tree mural by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/kit-kemp-5-questions\/\">Kit Kemp<\/a> and a palm-frond-patterned rug found on 1stDibs establish a semitropical vibe. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/spode\/\">Spode<\/a> plates atop the heirloom nightstands add a personal note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the homeowner\u2019s schnoodle, Fritz, has a pagoda-roofed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/dog-beds\/\">dog sofa<\/a> beside a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/george-smith\/furniture\/\">George Smith<\/a> armchair in a corner of the room, he often stretches out on the curvy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/furniture\/more-furniture-collectibles\/bedroom-furniture\/beds-frames\/material\/cane\/\">cane bed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy client is somewhat larger than life, and that comes across in her spaces,\u201d Sitterly says. \u201cThe combinations in the house are so unexpected, and there\u2019s An 18th-century <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/swedish-bench-gustavian\/\">Gustavian bench<\/a> sits beneath an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/antique-french-painting\/\">antique French painting<\/a> reminiscent of Monet&#8217;s hazy landscapes, while floors made from reclaimed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/18th-century-oak-furniture\/\">18th-century oak<\/a> display a darker patina underfoot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the early morning light, a soft lilac \u2014 infused with the palest hint of gray \u2014 emerges as a defining influence. More down-to-earth are the custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/buy\/live-edge-headboard\/\">live-edge headboard<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/bddw\/\">BDDW<\/a> nightstands and vintage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/borens-boras\/furniture\/\">Bor\u00e9ns Bor\u00e5s<\/a> sconces sourced from 1stDibs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/ib-madsen-and-acton-schubell\/furniture\/\">Ib Madsen and Acton Schubell<\/a> Pragh armchair, also found on 1stDibs, holds its own near the windows. \u201cWe covered it in this pretty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/la-maison-pierre-frey\/furniture\/\">Pierre Frey<\/a> pink,\u201d Caillier says. \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect piece for this bedroom and such an ideal place to read and relax.\u201d A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/creators\/josef-frank\/\">Josef Frank<\/a> tripod floor lamp and a 19th-century English work stool fill out the reading corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI never present ideas to the client that I don\u2019t love,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stdibs.com\/introspective-magazine\/heidi-caillier-memories-of-home\/\">Caillier says<\/a>. \u201cI will often show two options: the one I really, really want to do and the one they actually might prefer. Even if I want to push something to a certain point, I\u2019m aware that it may be going too far for the client and am prepared to rein it in.
