Clarice Akin Holloway Art
Clarice Akin Holloway was a native of Port Arthur. She graduated from nearby Lamar College, Beaumont, with honors. She received instruction or criticism on various occasions from Otis Dozier, Frederic Taubes, Elliott O'hara, Henri Gasser, Ted Schuyler, Fred Samuelson, Boardman Robinson, Morris Davidson, Jacob Getlar Smith and Bud Biggs. She reportedly assisted Taubes in summer workshops between 1958–78. She taught privately in Port Arthur. Holloway died in Port Arthur and her ashes were interred in Groves.
