Floyd Elzinga Still-life Sculptures

Canadian
Canadian sculptor Floyd Elzinga’s work merges iconic imagery from the Canadian landscape – the maple leaf, pine branch and pine cone – with Pop art to create works that are both playful and inspiring. From his studio on the Niagara Escarpment, Elzinga creates unique indoor and outdoor steel and bronze sculptures that resonate with a distinctly Canadian perspective. Elzinga has exhibited across Ontario and in Alberta and Nova Scotia. His work has been commissioned for public and private spaces in Canada, the US and internationally. A branch and leaf that bends in the wind was commissioned by Global Affairs Canada for the APEC Park in Da Nang, Vietnam. His corten and stainless steel sculptures can be found in the City of Lacombe, Alberta, Kings Christian Collegiate in Oakville, Loretto College, Toronto, The Groves Welcome Center in Humble, TX, the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto to name just a few. Elzinga holds a degree in Earth Sciences from McMaster University, a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and a Certificate of Art Fundamentals from Sheridan College of Applied Arts & Technology.

Chiseled stone sculpture from my "Insider Series" titled "Disengaged # One"
By Mark Beltchenko Studio
Located in Grosse Pointe Park, MI
Title: "Insiders Series (Disengaged #1.): A Tactile Journey Through Form and Narrative" "(Disengaged #1.)" from the "Insiders Series" emerges as a singular masterpiece—a one-of-a-kind sculpture meticulously crafted from hand-carved limestone and an assortment of metals thoughtfully chosen for their color and malleability. This work, like its counterparts in the series, transcends the boundaries of visual exploration, inviting the beholder to engage in a tactile experience that unravels a narrative both familiar and enigmatic. The sculpture beckons exploration not just with the eyes, but with the hands—a deliberate choice that transforms the artwork into an interactive encounter. As hands traverse the surface of the stone, a world unfolds, both impenetrable and inviting, offering a tactile journey that complements and completes the visual narrative. Each touch becomes a discovery of the familiar and the unknown, an invitation to unravel the layers of meaning embedded in the carved form. The core of this freestanding sculpture is hand-carved Indiana limestone...
