Giuseppe Cominetti Art

Giuseppe Cominetti was an Italian painter of the Divisionism period. In 1902, he moved to Genoa, where he frequented the sculptors Bistolfi, Bassano and De Albertis, the painters Nomellini, Olivari, Geranzani and Schiaffino, and writers and poets such as Baratono, Martini and Sbarbaro. The close friendship with Nomellini contributed to make him definitively join Divisionism. In 1909, Cominetti took part in the Paris “Salon d'Automne” exhibition. In the French capital, he had the opportunity to meet the exponents of the École de Paris and to collaborate as an art critic for Le Monde. Here, Cominetti also took part in Filippo Tommaso Marinetti's Futurist movement for a short period. Cominetti’s works are preserved at the Modern Art Gallery in Genoa, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, the Municipal Art Gallery of Cagliari, and the Museo Francesco Borgogna of Vercelli.
