A magnificent, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian English sterling silver vesta box modelled in the form of a boar; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian cast sterling silver vesta box has been realistically modelled in the form of a boar. This impressive antique vesta case is embellished with details replicating the features of the boar's coat of fur and anatomical features. The back of the boar incorporates a hallmarked hinged cover which opens to reveal the serrated panel/match striker. The secondary hallmarked hinged panel opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this is faciliated with a thumbpiece modelled in the form of the boar's tail. Such magnificent period examples are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition This antique Victorian vesta box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of each hinged cover are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee jug made by Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II; an addition to our antique silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver coffee jug, in sterling standard, has a baluster form. The body of this Victorian coffee jug is embellished with an impressive broad band of bright cut ornamentation depicting connected Grecian figures intertwined with long flowing fabric, all on a matte background. This narrative scene is flanked with an impressive interlacing leaf decorated border to the lower portion and a scrolling Akroter decorated band to the upper portion, in addition to plain moulded borders to the rims. This impressive antique coffee jug is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover encircled with a bright cut engraved undulating band; the flush indicates the high quality of the piece. The cover is surmounted by the original sterling silver finial in the formation of a flower comprised of scrolling leaf designs and textures. The coffee jug retains the original rounded sterling silver handle, incorporating a leaf design to the upper portion and an exceptional leaf design to the lower socket.
