Magalie Comeau Art

Canadian, b. 1982
Magalie Comeau lives, works and sometimes disappears within Montreal. If we agree that painting allows thought to revolve around poignant feelings that cause the body’s relationship with hysterical size ratios, both in time and in space, her work supports this. To emphasize this vastness, she builds pictorial problems that play mathematical games and render inaccessible interiors animate along un-predetermined paths. Driven by the desire to open unsuspected potential, and regularly pushing her painting to abstract issues are the likely and the necessary force to any existence, she completed her bachelor’s degree in fine arts at the University Concordia in 2005. Since then, Magalie has had several solo exhibitions where she presented work based on vacillations of pictorial thought about the constant transformation of human landmarks. These exhibitions include the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown and Art-Mûr in Montreal. Her works have been presented across Quebec, Shanghai, Toronto, London, and New York, and are part of private and public collections such as the loan collection at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and the Creative Cities Collection- London Art Exhibition 2012 National Art Museum of China in Beijing. She was invited to participate in group exhibitions at the Joliette Art Museum, the Barbican Center in London, the Musée Régional de Rimouski, and the Shanghai World Expo 2010.
