OLGA PICASSO Lithograph, Seated Woman Realist Portrait Brown, Pink, Gray
By (after) Pablo Picasso
Located in Union City, NJ
Artist: Pablo Picasso, After, Spanish (1881 - 1973) Title: OLGA PICASSO #26-3 Year of Original Artwork: 1923 Medium: Lithograph on Coventry Paper, 100% acid free Edition of 1000, unnumbered, estate approved printed signature Print Size: 29.25 x 21.25 in. OLGA PICASSO is a limited edition lithograph re-created after an original painting from the estate Collection of Marina Picasso, Picasso's grand-daughter. Printed using hand drawn lithographic plates on archival heavy weight Coventry printmaking paper, 100% acid free. Edition was produced in accordance with the Picasso family under the supervision of Marcel Salinas, master chromist who worked closely with Pablo Picasso during his lifetime. Bears the estate approved printed signature of Picasso on lower margin. Lithograph is in excellent condition, never been framed or mounted. Picasso's OLGA PICASSO is a realistic portrait portraying Olga (Khokhlova), a Russian ballet dancer and the first wife of renowned Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso. Picasso's OLGA PICASSO presents a serious, restrained Olga seated in a domestic environment rendered in calm, neutral colors of light gray, light pink, beige, warm browns, and charcoal black, creating an appealing understated female portrait study. Picasso painted her portrait often, in a realistic manner, on which Olga insisted as she did not like experiments in painting. “I want to recognize my own face”, she said. While in Barcelona, Picasso made Olga meet his mother, who liked the Russian girl...

Mark Tobey drawing on W. H. Auden poem from Henry Moore book/portfolio
By Mark Tobey
Located in New York, NY
Exuberant, dancing marks in purple, red, green and blue surround the first two verses of W. H. Auden’s poem Lay Your Sleeping Head. This original drawing is the product of a fortuitous crossing of Mark Tobey and the British artist Henry Moore during their time at Petersburg Press. Mark Tobey, Untitled 1974 pen and ink surrounding text 20.25 x 13.25 in. / 51.5 x 33.7 cm Drawing on W. H. Auden poem from Auden Poems/Moore Lithographs book and portfolio (1974). Condition: tape on verso, soft crease lower edge. Mark Tobey spent time in 1931 at Dartington Hall in rural Devon, owned by Leonard Elmhirst and his wife Dorothy, who had invited Tobey to join their arts center. He was given a teaching studio in the gatehouse of the estate where he taught everyone from children to adults of every skill level. Tobey spent the better part of a decade there and it was at Dartington Hall that he met fellow resident Henry Moore and others such as Lucian Clement, Stephan Freud, and Piet Mondrian. The two artists were eventually reunited at Petersburg Press in New York where they were both producing work. Tobey drew with ink on a proof of printed text (the first two verses of a W. H. Auden poem entitled Lay Your Sleeping Head) from Henry Moore’s book...
